A pair of "Redactions" conceptualized & performed (what feels like a lifetime ago, yet was almost exactly) 2 years ago at 3RRR-FM, Brunswick & Bar Open, Carlton, VIC, on July 7th & 31st, 2018, respectively.

The first, "Avantwhatever [Redactions]" utilizes all of the prior performances in the 2018 installment of Ben Byrne's annual festival by Radu Malfatti & Alex Garsden, Dale Gorfinkel, Jason Kahn, Pia Van Gelder, & Stephen Cornford as source/seed-material (as much as I would have loved to have included elements of the sets by Judith Hamann, Fjorn "Papaphilia" Butler, and Richard Kamerman, it was temporally impossible to do so) along with arbitrary audio collected in the 3RRR-FM live-space a few weeks before the concert, a field recording of a drive up to Tullamarine, & elements of the between-set ambiance & chatter at a Demdike State concert at Howler a week or so prior.

The second, "MIUC [Redactions]" stems from the online presence of Sean Baxter & Analee Koernig's legendary, decades-spanning series at Bar Open, and uses audio from the following YT clips as source/seed-material:

In the spirit of balance (& closure) I'm including the (conceptually unrelated in that it uses prerecorded materials, largely of the Serge at GRM & the Buchla at EMS) "Redactions" segment of a concert performed for Liquid Architecture at Northcote Uniting Church on May 5th, 2018, just prior to the AW & MIUC Redactions, opening for Rashad Becker (alongside Fia Fiell & Th Duo trio) as it completes the 2018 Melbourne suite.

This release is dedicated in loving memory of Sean Baxter, who was an absolutely irreplaceable firebrand in the Melbourne & International Experimental Music consciousnesses; he is sorely missed. Thanks to Sean, Annalee, Stevie, Marco, Max, Kusum, Jannah, Ben, Radu, Alex, Dale, Jason, Pia, Stephen, Judy, Fjörn, Richard, Matt, Joel, Rashad, Carolyn, Rohan, Tarquin, Ying-Li, and everyone for what was to be my final set of performances in Melbourne before being ejected from Australia; I hope to come back one day to see & hear everyone again...
